About #

When I started at NSC Creative they had just released the tie-in release to their new full-dome film, the CAPCOM GO! Apollo VR Planetarium on Steam.

My Involvement #

One of my first tasks was to do some updates to fix some bugs and add some new content to the application.

This involved learning how the existing codebase worked and figuring out how to add the new functionality, debugging the issues that had been reported across a collection of VR headsets, reproducing, and then fixing the bugs.

The updates I performed were:

  • Updating the video playing logic to allow for more of NSC Creative’s full-dome films to be played in the planetarium.
  • Fixing issues that were preventing the application from running correctly on some brands of VR headsets.
  • Adding new physics toys, such as a reel-to-reel tape player to change the music in the planetarium, a torch, and a bouncy ball.
  • Create new physical switches that can be interacted with through VR finger tracking.
  • Fix bugs reported by the community.
  • Integrating Steam DLC and achievements using the Steam API.
  • Making and publishing new builds to Steam for testing and deployment.
  • Working with Viveport and the Viveport API to get the application on the Viveport store with the same functionality.
